Installation Guide
This chapter describes how to install and configure the Alia language development environment.
Environment Dependencies
The official Alia implementation is written in JavaScript and relies on Node.js and npm as its runtime; the Rust compilation target additionally requires the Rust toolchain (cargo).
Installing the CLI Tool
The command line tool alia (CmdAlia) is provided by the Manager submodule. Install it globally with npm from within that submodule's directory:
npm install -g .
Once installed, alia <command> [options] is ready to use.
Upgrading Versions
Source upgrades are performed via a recursive submodule pull:
git pull --recurse-submodules
After upgrading, re-run npm install -g . in the Manager submodule directory to update the global command.
Common CLI Commands
